Consequently , I’ll be renting a car. I had a few choices that were in policy, but I decided to gamble and go with the “special special” option from Thrifty. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! :
Rates equal to a Compact
Compact car or larger vehicle, guaranteed
Pick up location determines vehicle at time of pick up
Vehicle will have at least 5 seatbelts
Room for 2 pieces of luggage or more
I’m curious as to what I’m going to get. I’m almost willing to be it’s going to be a damn Versa, but then again we’ll see. I’ll have this car for less than 3 days, so I figured I might as well roll the dice and see what kind of car they give me.

That, picked the wrong choice in spell check.

sweet, enjoy your M3 rental bro.

“Here, it’s a Yukon XL, our last vehicle left. Have fun parking. Want that collision damage waiver?”

Does Thrifty have Mitsubishi Mirages?
![]() 10/30/2018 at 15:56 |

I had a 4 door F250 with the extended bed at my first job, that won’t be a problem, and since gas is paid for, bring it on. Better than a Versa.

Good, because my English is terrible and I was hoping I hadn’t been using a word incorrectly for 30 years.

When I went to the UK a couple years back, I tried to get a subcompact. “Oh, we’re out of subcompacts, we’ll have to upgrade you to a compact”. “Oh, you
shouldn’t have
”. So, yeah, no minuscule Citroens that are narrow enough to fit on British roads while trying to learn how to drive backwards, but either a Fiesta or a Vauxhall. Me: “Well, when am I going to get to drive a Vauxhall again, amirite?” Later Me: “You FOOL”.

It’s going to be your all time favorite Nissan Versa ! Enjoy!

Forecast is sunny ( it’s always sunny in Philadelphia) and a 100% chance of Nissan Versa

B
etter than a Versa in every conceivable way.

Yeah, my A3 felt massive.

Where around
Philly will you stay in? Public transit is better than bad in the city and adjacent suburbs.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 16:06 |

It’s extremely dark and narcissistic. It’s really not for everyone.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 16:07 |

Horsham.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 16:08 |

Like Center City or an associated suburb? Makes all the difference regarding whether you want a Tahoe or a Fiesta.
Also makes a difference on what restaurants I’d recommend.

A lot of people I talk to say that the humor is right up my alley, but I just don’t enjoy it for some reason.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 16:08 |

Horsham.

Make sure to pronounce water as “wooder” and Eagles as “Iggles.”

I did this with Thrifty several years ago in ATL. I got an Impala (old style) with 4 miles on it. Yes, 4.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 16:18 |

Ah, rental it is, then. The 55 and
Horsham Breeze lines
only connect
the Pennsylvania Business Campus with Willow Grove.

It’s pretty over the top though - you might like that type of humor, but just find that Sunny goes too far. I mean, come on - literally EVERY character in that entire show has NO redeeming qualities at all.

Every time I’ve picked that option I’ve gotten a Chrysler minivan. Have fun.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 16:25 |

Horsham is Philly-adjacent, but you're a solid hour from center city. Parking shouldn't be a problem no matter what vehicle you are given, because you're not in the city.

Except for urban maneuvering...
![]() 10/30/2018 at 17:11 |

Not worse than a Versa, I’m sure my colleges would love for me to get a minivan.

I can’t put my finger on it, because I love deplorable jokes.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 17:12 |

Yeah, I’m also not a massive fan of public transit.

I’m hoping this choice pays off.

Enjoy your time in the Keystone State. I'm a little bit north of Philly in Allentown. Is it strictly work or do you have time for some sightseeing/driving around?
![]() 10/30/2018 at 17:19 |
|
It’s really strictly for work, but I really don’t have anything I need to actually get done. I’m visiting a company to check out a machine and see the viability before we drop 200k+ on it. So I might have some time for sightseeing.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 17:27 |

Have you been to Philly before? If not, it’s worth checking it out. Kelly Drive, the art museum, independence hall, the liberty bell, pat’s/geno’s (although there are better cheese steaks elsewhere, like at John’s Roast Pork but everybody has their preference).
![]() 10/30/2018 at 17:30 |

Have not, I’d like to check some of that stuff out, we’ll see how much time I have and if I’m up for it or not.

If you want to ignore the city and just drive, I'd set your GPS for Yardley, and then take 32 North as it follows the Delaware river. Eventually you get on 611 north and you can keep driving north and just double back down 611 straight to horsham. You'll also see where Washington crossed the Delaware River.

!!! I just got promoted and my job is moving me there. It’s just a boring suburb, so no help on what to do. Hopefully you’ll get a luxo-barge, though.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 18:45 |

Congrats on the promotion! Were you already somewhere in the greater Philly area or are you moving here from somewhere else? I'm in Allentown but I have family in Philly and across the Delaware Valley.

My current office is in Lancaster, but I do field work, so most of my time is spent in Reading / Kutztown / Lehigh west of Allentown. I’m a government guy and they’re hiring people in Bethlehem, so I may end up there for a while.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 18:52 |

Bethlehem is nice. That’s where I work, and I live in between Allentown and Bethlehem. I went to KU and lived west of Allentown, so I’m pretty familiar with that area too.
![]() 10/30/2018 at 19:48 |

More importantly, have you narrowed down whether you are going to Geno’s or Pat’s for your requisite cheese steak?
![]() 10/30/2018 at 20:09 |

I haven’t thought about it yet.

Good luck! I have a 2 week rental out of ORD in a few days, already getting a little antsy about what I might receive - renting cars is another thing mundane to most that I can really get into.

Even for urban maneuvering. There’s a lot to be said for being high enough to see what’s going on around you, especially in an unfamiliar location. I find switching to a full-size truck or van far easier than switching to a small car.
Plus there’s the fact that odds are I’d deliberately crash the Versa into a tree inside 5 minutes.
All that being said, obviously the Yukon XL isn’t the ideal choice. I’d personally
prefer a midsize truck or a crossover because that would put me in the most familiar situation possible. But I’d absolutely take one over a Versa
